Inclusion & Community Engagement.
Social media could arguably be one of man’s most creative inventions. It has allowed us to communicate with our loved ones from anyway in the world and exchange ideas with people from diverse backgrounds. Social media has helped me establish a diverse and inclusive theme and messaging culture in a professional setting. Working in engineering is widely considered a traditionally male job. Thanks to social media, I can interact with many female engineers around the world who are excelling at the craft and in even more traditionally male occupations. This interaction made me appreciate the women working in my field more, but it has also empowered me to seek out female engineers for collaborations and partnerships.
Watching the videos has completely changed my perspective on inclusion and PLN in terms of it not being able to rack up diverse groups of people in the workplace but also buying into the idea that inclusion is fundamentally a healthy aspect of social interaction at work and outside of work (Miller,2021). Learning to accept different people and their individual preferences, interests, and limitations has allowed me to learn to accept different opinions and become more receptive to cultural differences. It raises the level of tolerance that we accord different people around us, but it also allows us to learn, improve, and grow in different settings (Miller, 2021).
A diverse and inclusive PLN on social media is beneficial in understanding the differences between individuals globally. For starters, it promotes friendship between people who have little in common but much to learn from each other. A diverse and inclusive PLN is also beneficial because it promotes cooperation between people from different parts of the globe. The exchange of different opinions makes room for some excellent partnerships. An inclusive PLN on social media ensures that no one is left out in important discussions and conversations. Inclusion ensures that all ideas and opinions are represented. Finally, a diverse and inclusive PLN is important to world peace. The idea of conflict often evolves from individual intolerance of people, but an inclusive PLN has taught me that if people are receptive to differences, We can avoid more conflict. According to Moore (2017), Overall, an inclusive and diverse PLN is important in shaping messages that respect the background of everyone in the society.

Hi Yutong,
I completely agree with the comment that you made on how your perspective has changed after watching the video. Like you, by learning about peoples’ different interests, preferences and limitations I have been able to learn more about people and different cultures. Having an open mindset will allow us to develop strong and healthy skills when interacting with others, creating communities where everyone is included!
Fantastic work on your blog for this week, looking forward to the next one

Hi Yutong,
Thank you for sharing your opinion and blog. It is amazing to see how you feel about PLN. I agree that social media does help us learn from the different cultural backgrounds and understand individual differences. It is easy to develop collaboration on social media than face to face because people are creating social anxiety more often than before. People may feel uncomfortable sharing with everyone offline. However, using social media with nicknames can help develop self-esteem and express real feelings. Everyone can share something online and there is no boundary online to block people to say something as long as they do not against the law. Also, it is very helpful to understand in economic level. People need to have some basic knowledge about who they are against but if we do not have social media, it will be hard to collect information. Thank you for sharing good ideas.
